The SGI ESG Eurozone Selection Excluding Controversial Activities & Practices Fix Div Index aims to provide an exposure to the performance of a basket of stocks incorporated in the euro zone. Their selection is based on environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) indicators and a free-float market capitalization.
The Index is composed of a basket of 50 stocks. The initial universe is filtered first for certain controversial activities and against the United Nations’ Global Compact pillars. The companies engaged in certain controversial activities or breaching the principles laid out by the United Nations’ Global Compact will be excluded. A best-in-class ESG filter is subsequently applied: companies with ESG scores ranking the bottom 40% of their industry are excluded. The 50 stocks with the highest free-float market capitalization are selected from the remaining universe after applying the ESG filters. The 50 stocks are then equally weighted to form the Index composition. The Index is systematically rebalanced on a quarterly basis.
The SGI ESG Eurozone Selection Excluding Controversial Activities & Practices Fix Div Index is calculated and maintained by STOXX Limited, Zurich, Switzerland, specifically for SG.
